The most beautiful tourist destinations in Mai Chau
Mai Chau does not have many beautiful and famous tourist destinations like Moc Chau - Son La, but you will not be disappointed when you come to Mai Chau because of its beautiful scenery. In Mai Chau, there are 2 famous tourist villages: Lac and Pom Coong, and many other famous places in Mai Chau for you to explore.
Lac village - Mai Chau's most beautiful tourist destination
Lac village today is a very popular community tourist spot in the heart of near and far tourists. Not a crowded, bustling or magnificent, elegance place, but all are rustic, natural, and friendly. You will never forget it once you come here.

Lac village is a place of bold cultural indentity of white Thai people. 5 Thai ethnic families live in Lac village are Ha, Lo, Vi, Mac and Loc. So far the village has existed for 700 years. In the past, villagers only lived on the cultivation of upland rice and weaving brocade. Later, the hidden charm of Lac village was gradually discovered by tourists. Today everyone in the village is working on tourism and the name of Lac village is one of the key areas of tourism in Mai Chau.

Many people of Lac village provide spacious and airy homestays to promote tourism and serve the needs of tourists’ sightseeing. Stilt houses in Lac village are all tall, spacious and clean, keeping ancient architecture. Each house is fully and neatly equipped with blankets, cushions and pillows.

Poom Coong village
Pom Coong means the village of the hills on a big drum, indicating the field - a name that is rich in figurative and meaningful. Pom Coong has been known as a cultural and tourist village, an attractive tourist destination with nearly 70 households and more than 300 people.
Traditionally, Pom Coong people still build unique stilt houses. These houses are close to each other only by a thin vegetable bed or hedge. By sitting on the front porch, people can chat and have fun together.

Pom Coong is very clean. The carefully built clean water resource and sanitation facilities make visitors feel fresh and safe. Water is mainly tap water. Garbage is sorted, stored in containers and will be treated. Village roads and lanes are always clean, and people never throws garbage indiscriminately..

Thung Khe Pass
Located between Tan Lac and Mai Chau (Hoa Binh) on Highway 6, Thung Khe Pass or Da Trang Pass is sky-clear in the morning, sunny skyblue at noon, gentle with evening sun and foggy all the way during the night.



Mo Luong cave
Located not far from the center of Mai Chau town, close to Highway 15 and looking towards Lac and Pom Coong village is Mo Luong cave. Mo Luong cave’s old name is Bo Luong cave, which in Thai language means big spring of water. It is the water originated from Pu Kha mountain. This water flows to the western fields, and the local people dug into a reservoir and named it Mo Luong Lake.

Chieu Cave
To get to Chieu Cave, visitors must go through 1200 stone steps. Next to the cave entrance, there is an ancient Xa Pung tree, standing majestically but humbly to protect and make it easy for visitors going to the cave.
Chieu Cave is located in the southwest of Mai Chau town. The entrance is about 10 - 15m wide, about 30m to the top of the mountain, and about 350m from the residential area. Looking from the mountain, Mai Chau town is visibly rich and poetic.

Van village, Mai Chau
Van village is a small village located near Mai Chau town just starting its tourism service. Although not crowded like Lac village, Van village still impresses tourists with terraced fields next to each other on both sides of the road to the village. The villagers are quite friendly and hospitable.
The village also has a park to grow yellow, white mustard and other flowers. In the beginning of the village, Van village guesthouse was built next to the field. If you have a chance to stay here, you will be able to watch the morning sunrise by the beautiful terraces.

Thai Museum
Thai museum is a gallery to preserve the ancient artifacts of the Thai people, collected by Mr. Kien for 10 years to show his love for his lost wife. Currently, all of the artifacts have been transferred and stored at Van village’s cultural house.
Coming to Thai museum, you can see the ancient Thai artifacts for hundreds of years of development, the priceless coins, collected and preserved carefully.

Go Lao Waterfall
Go Lao a small waterfall in Phuc San commune and about 15 km from Mai Chau. From Tong Dau crossroad in the direction to Moc Chau, you will easily find the way to the waterfall. It is the earthen stairs built to go down to the waterfall, and if you go there in the rainy season, it will be quite slippery. You can park your car in the villager's house right before the waterfall and climb down.

Ba Khan
It is a commune of Mai Chau located along the hydroelectric lake, stretching from Phu Cuong, passing the foot of Thung Khe Pass and about 15 km from Go Lao Waterfall. This is also a watershed area of the hydroelectric reservoir and you can rent a boat to travel around. The price for boat rental is about 300,000 VND - 350,000 VND/ hour. Tourism here is undeveloped and still quite untouched.
