If you’ve ever been craving for a snack, a sip of home-made milk tea, or a few pieces of rice paper salad while traveling but do not know where to buy, this is the article for you. JTA Tours, after many times "spying the area" has summarized 11 street food corners in Hue, which are the most popular among young people.
1. Thach Han fried rice dumpling cake (Banh bot loc chien Thach Han)
Fried rice dumpling cake is a popular snack in Hue and there are also a lot of sidewalk shops selling this dish, but if you want to try one of the best ones in Hue, you must come to 134 Thach Han. The reason why this snack shop stands out among many other shops in Hue is due to the unique flavor of the dumpling cake, the know-how of crispy frying and bold flavor of the sauce which cannot be mistaken with any other restaurant.
You can try fried rice dumpling cake with chili sauce but other than that, there is a special sauce made in Thach Han, which is a cup of fish sauce that is "boiled" with sugar and then added with a little chili to accelerate the taste. The cake is crispy and hot, and a bit chewy, with a little salty taste from the shrimp and minced meat. At the restaurant, side dishes such as quail eggs or fermented pork are also served.

2. Thien Mu pagoda tofu (Dau hu chua Thien Mu)
Tofu is the favorite snack of many young people in Saigon, Hanoi and also in Hue. Similar to the one sold in the South, this dish is sold mainly in street vendors. A cup of tofu consists of white tofu pieces, served with pounded ginger and sugar water on top.
To enjoy this delicious dish in authentic Hue style, you can visit the street vendor locating at the foot of Thien Mu Pagoda, Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Street. For nearly a decade until now, there have been two sisters selling tofu who always serve delicious, warm tofu cups every afternoon. The two are sisters so you don't need to wonder which side is better, since both are "standard" taste. Each cup of this "childhood taste" is so sweet but super cheap, sold for 5,000 VND only.

3. Banh mi food truck – Thao Bakery
Once arriving at Hue, banh mi food truck is a must for "trendy people". Among many popular snack shops in Hue, Thao Bakery is worth mentioning, as this "food truck" model is still very new in this Ancient City. The truck is most famous for its delicious banh mi with stir-fried beef and onion.
Hue people are always sophisticated with their ways to prepare food, so even their banh mi must be carefully taken care of, from the selecting process to preparing and stir-frying and baking procedure, so as to create the most characteristic flavor and fitting with the most gourmet taste. Fermented pork sausage has long been a specialty of Hue but if before you are only familiar with sour fermented pork sausage or grilled fermented pork sausage, now remember to add fried fermented pork sausage to the list of delicious dishes that you definitely have to try when you go to Hue! And in order to fully enjoy this snack, Khang fried fermented pork sausage is the place that you should not miss.
This shop is famous for its quality as well as the variety of snacks, from the famous fried fermented pork sausage to cheese sticks, popiah, or stir-fried baby quail eggs with tamarind sauce, every dish that you can think of! The place is so famous that you just need to ask a young person in Hue for a snack shop, Khang will always be in the top 3 most recommended.

5. Hotto Takoyaki
If you are sightseeing and suddenly craving for a piece of Takoyaki octopus ball, you must stop by Hotto. Located on Ly Thuong Kiet Street, the shop is near the sidewalk, so if you come here in the evening to watch the street, chat and have a mouthful of Takoyaki, it will totally be a perfect time.
In this shop, Takoyaki has many types of filling such as octopus, cheese, etc. The crust is crispy, soft and not too dry and the filling is very rich, not mixed with minced vegetables like in other restaurants and the seaweed eaten as a side dish is also a lot. In addition, at the shop, there are also very delicious home-made milk tea. A glass mixed with all kinds of jelly is priced at only 20,000 VND. You should also try the dried chicken and roasted greaves with lemon leaves which are also very popular.

6. Minh Nghia snail restaurant
It might seem strange to recommend snails when you come to Hue, but in fact, all Hue people, especially young gourmets, know about Minh Nghia snail restaurant on Phan Boi Chau st. There is a joke among tourists that this snack shop in Hue is so famous that they think this is one of the specialties of the Ancient capital.
The restaurant is quite far from the city center, but in return you will be able to enjoy a heavenly meal with very “little” price. It is easily recognized due to a high number of students because all snail dishes are priced from 10,000 VND only. The "best seller" of the restaurant is the snail and baby clams with rice crackers, but remember that rice crackers here are referred to rice paper. As the taste of Hue people is "super spicy, heavy accent", the sauce and also the snail will be quite spicy, so should you want to adjust accordingly to your taste, you should tell the waiter clearly when ordering.

7. CHIN bubble tea
CHIN Bubble Tea is a familiar name, which is always in the top of the most trendy shops for "virtual living", however this is also the snack paradise for young people, especially those who like Korean food. Although it is called snacks, coming here, ordering some dishes with a cup of milk tea can give you a full stomach because it’s actually a lot of food.
CHIN is famous for Korean dishes such as tokbokki, spicy chicken with cheese, spicy stir-fried squid, gimbap rice rolls, together with various sweet dishes like mixed sweet soup (che thap cam) and chocolate scones. Although the price is "slightly" higher than other snack shops in Hue but the quality of the dishes and drinks here are always highly appreciated by diners.

8. Bu milk tea
If you have been so bored with hot fried snacks, you can give Bu Milk Tea a visit for a cup of jelly-filled milk tea and a cool fruit bowl. Bu captured the attention of Hue’s youth thanks to its lovely “big” milk tea cup. Even the menu names the food and drinks as Bu 1 and Bu 2, so it is necessary to give the shop a big plus point for fun.
The shop at the sidewalk of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, with the tables made of barrels and outstanding yellow plastic chairs, so you will definitely not miss it. At Bu, everything is "big", from a cup of milk tea to a bowl of fruit, only the price is way too small.

9. Mochi Mochi ice cream buffet
After finishing the fruit bowl, you can have a light dessert with Mochi Mochi ice cream, then you can sleep well all night. Come to Mochi Mochi, you are free to choose ice cream flavors with various toppings. On top of that, the space at the restaurant is very spacious and airy, and suitable for "virtual living"!
There are two flavors: matcha and chocolate which are the most beloved ones by customers, but there are also a lot of juicy flavors that you can try, such as kiwi and strawberry. Talking about the snack shops with homemade milk tea in Hue, Han Hy milk tea must be on top of the list. Right from its name you can immediately see the "specialty" of the restaurant, which is a wide range of milk tea. Only in a few places in Hue that you can enjoy a cup of milk tea of 1 liter, milk tea with two compartments or milk tea hot pot as in Han Hy.
The menu of the shop is extremely diverse, with many different flavors and jelly toppings, so sometimes you will have a bit of difficulty of choosing one when you go to the shop. Although the shop has indoors and sometimes also takes the sidewalk to make use of the space, it is always crowded and sometimes there is not enough table to sit, you have to get takeaway or squeeze on the sidewalk. Nguyen Dinh Chieu pedestrian street is not a specific snack shop in Hue but it would be a mistake not to mention its name due to the variety of food presented here. At the street, you can freely enjoy the rustic specialties full of the Ancient captital’s breath such as Hue sweet soup (che), bloating fern-shaped cake (banh beo), baby clam vermicelli, etc.
In the evening, you can walk here to see a very authentic Hue at night. On the way, you can easily find popular snacks from all over the country such as mango and pickled toads beams, all kinds of skewers and fried sweet potatoes with cheese. In addition to snacks, the walking street is also a place to buy a lot of souvenirs which are highly sophisticated and beautiful. Therefore, some people even call the street in a funny way as the place where "everything is available" in Hue city.
