What to Eat in the Mekong Delta?

22-Jul-2019

The deep south of Vietnam is a real paradise for tourists who love food, especially local cuisine. From the fruit-laden garden to the table full of delicious dishes, you will get lost in the street food world once you enter the market. Losing weight is impossible.

Hi everyone, today JTA Tours will introduce to you food you must try when you have a chance to visit the Mekong Delta.

Starting from Saigon, after about 1 hour and 30 minutes of travelling, you will arrive at a tourist destination in Ben Tre. Everybody comes here will be treated with fruit-laden garden around four seasons. The garden is full of watermelons, pineapples, papayas, bananas, jackfruit and unripe strawberries. Feel free to pick your favorite fruits and take a sip of delicious honey tea.

Then stop by the coconut candy factory, observe the candy production process and enjoy it.

This is coconut candy before being cut into small pieces. The "knife" used to cut are plastic plates because it will be sticky if you use metal knives.

From the factory, there will be a boat to take you to a restaurant in the river where you can have lunch. No one can recognize it from the outside because it is surrounded by a pomelo garden. The atmosphere is very cool by the shade of trees and the wind from the river, without an air conditioner or a fan. For lunch, there are two options on the menu, one is rice plate, the other is the set menu, visitors can book before going on the tour.

Up next, when you go to Can Tho, you will have the opportunity to enjoy and observe the traditional “hu tieu” (rice noodle soup) production base of local people.
